Meet Ayelet!
Hi there! My name is Ayelet Portman!
I’m a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who specializes in eating disorders, disordered eating, body image, and helping people build a more peaceful relationship with food.
Diet culture can be LOUD.
Between social media, wellness trends, conflicting nutrition advice, and the newest diet promising to finally be the one, it can be incredibly difficult to figure out what your body actually needs, or to trust yourself around food at all.
I believe that all bodies are important, valued, and deserving of respect. Your body size or shape does not determine your worth, and health cannot be determined simply by looking at someone.
Together, we can start turning down the volume on all of those outside messages and make more room for you, your needs, your experiences, your values, and the life you actually want to be living.
I work with adolescents and teens (12+) and adults of all ages.
- Do thoughts about food or your body take up way more space in your brain than you want them to?
- Are you stuck in a cycle of dieting, trying to eat “perfectly,” or constantly questioning whether the foods you eat are “healthy enough”?
- Do you find yourself avoiding experiences, social situations, or certain foods because of how you feel about your body?
- Are you working toward eating disorder recovery and looking for support as you navigate what comes next?
- Do you want to feel more comfortable and confident around food without another set of rules telling you what you should be doing?
If any of this sounds familiar, I may be the right dietitian for you!
I know that reaching out for support can feel really scary…
but being here means you’ve already taken an important step!
Maybe you’re exhausted from constantly thinking about what you ate, what you’re going to eat, or whether you ate the “right” thing.
Maybe you’re tired of feeling uncomfortable in your body or like you need to change it before you can fully participate in your life.
Maybe food and body thoughts are getting in the way of dinners with friends, time with family, school, work, vacations, celebrations, or simply being present in your day-to-day life.
Or maybe part of you knows that you want things to be different, but you’re just not quite sure what different looks like yet.
You don’t have to have it all figured out before reaching out.
Healing isn’t always a straight line.
There can be ups, downs, uncomfortable moments, and plenty of learning along the way.
My goal is to meet you exactly where you are and help you move toward a relationship with food and your body that allows you to spend less time worrying about both of them, and more time actually living your life.
Because life is meant to be lived, not dieted away.

Ayelet's Counseling Style & Approach
First and foremost, I want you to feel comfortable being you in our sessions.
That means our time together won’t always feel like a formal nutrition appointment. We might talk about what you’re watching on TV, something funny that happened that week, or discover something completely random that we have in common. Building a genuine relationship is an important part of creating a space where you feel comfortable talking about the harder stuff, too.
My approach is rooted in compassionate curiosity, validation, and understanding. Rather than telling you what you “should” be doing, I want to understand your experiences with food, your body, and nutrition and work together to figure out what support actually makes sense for you.
I practice from a weight-neutral, Health at Every Size® and Intuitive Eating-aligned perspective. Our work may incorporate concepts that challenge diet culture and food rules, learning that all foods can fit, and exploring the idea that your body does not need to look a certain way for you to deserve adequate nourishment.
Ultimately, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. I want to get to know you, meet you where you are, and figure out together how I can best support you.
Ayelet's Specialties
I love working with adolescents, teens and adults who are navigating:
- Eating disorders and eating disorder recovery
- Disordered eating
- Body image concerns and body dysmorphia
- Chronic dieting and difficulty breaking out of dieting cycles
- Building a more peaceful and trusting relationship with food
- Transitioning from residential, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), or other higher levels of eating disorder care
- Nutrition concerns alongside various medical conditions
You do not need to have a diagnosed eating disorder to work with me. If food feels complicated, your relationship with your body is taking up too much of your life, or you’re simply looking for individualized nutrition support without a focus on dieting or weight loss, I’d love to help.
